Behind the steering wheel is a plastic badn with a couple of lugs on it... these are famous for snapping off.

Take your steering wheel off and I'll bet you three and a half million pounds that I'm right...

Reading of this post assumes your binding agreement to this bet. All bets are binding and payouts must be made within 7 days or "Di Management" reserve the right to send "Di Boys" round!

I think it's a seperate item but can't tell you the part number I'm afraid... a call to your local specialist with the model and year of your beast should be enough to get it.

I had the same problem and somewhere I've seen a picture of a fix using a bolt in place of the plastic lug...but because my wheel was a bit scrotty I got a replacement wheel off a breaker...

Google it!

I seem to remember doing a fix like that with a couple of long screws to act as the broken lugs. could have been on my defender though :?

ive had the wheel off and the colum is fine nothing broke there.
but on the back of the wheel is a plastic thing that has broke,so this is why its not working.

is it a item on its own or does it come as part of the steering wheel?

any ideas?

ive got it fixed now,
Part number is: STC 2910 if you have the steering wheel with integral horn push OR NTC 3853 for other versions.

This might help some one.
