Just remember, those bags of white powder up under the dash are NOT soundproofing...

There was talk of somebody putting them into production again.  There's a demand, apparently.  I could see them being modernised;  wasn't the original engine a bit underwhelming?

We had a guy on board early this year who had brought one on a whim just because he liked the look of it.

That was to go with his 21 vintage cars that he kept 'in his garage'. What I'd do with that sort of spending capability!

You need it. You have no idea how much one of those doors hurts till you've been hit by one.

Its Slow
It has the roadhandling of a bus
Its a mightmare to keep clean
Its underpowered (88.8mph because stock, they dont go that fast)

After years of wanting one man was I disapointed. Specially as I drove it back thinking that it would get better after I serviced it (8 years stood), It didnt. 30 odd recalls later and a new engine it still sucks.

But it looks cool and does attract attention

Cost C$8000 so about £3500

Theres been two shots so far at redoing them. The DMC2 which was ugly as sin. Then someone decided the mew DMC12 would be a prelude Chassis.

Delorean USA do still bash them out ocasionally, would be mice to see them in production again BUT they serioulsy need modernising. Its actually possible to have the chassis drop off in places. You think disco floors go, you shopuld see what happens the a DMC12 Chassis :)

I had a pic of mine kicking about but I cant find it.

Oh and I'm back sort of.

Wasn't it a Renault V6 and Gearbox?  I admit I'd always wanted one, few vehicles would turn as many heads as a DeLorean at that price.

Only ever saw one at a petrol station and the owner had about 6 other drivers swarming around it and asking Q's!

PRV V6 2.5

Pug Renault Volvo, some Volvo 240 parts fit it. The engine is designed with EU 97 RON+ fuel in mind, fact that almost all of North America considers 90 RON premium doesnt help its performance issues. Its a dam heavy car which also doesnt help. The gearbox is like stirring a bucket of bricks. Thankfully (?) Tower blew mine up doing a service and I have a 2.5 Turbo GM Ecotec V6 which does actually have the power the car needs. New box helps too. I Beleive that Delorean USA were looking at a Ford Biturbo V6 for the new ones, certainly they were pushing it hard as an upgrade option for a while. People have shuved allsorts in these including the same short block V8s that the LR engines descended from.

The only thing is that people will go out, buy these cars and without the mods the suspention and steering are crying out for they'll end up wrapped round things. A fun excercise in one of these, even standard, is to try and drive at anything more that 2mp round an icy car park. Most of the engine weight is behind the back wheels so once you loose it, its gone.

Where its a very Iconic car, the reason it failed is all to obvious when you drive one and a lot of people end up very disapointed when they finally get hold of one. In the UK expect to pay up to £40k for a showroom condition RHD one and no less than about £16k for a resonable LHD. In the states they can be found for silly money and you can import them back here provided you sort out the requirements for UK roads (Fog lights, exhaust, handbrake that works etc)

Oh and you can get flux Capacitors and Time circuits from ebay ;)

I drove one in the late 80's early 90's when I worked for a garage that sold exotic cars. I thought I was the kiddy driving that around Cardiff!
Quite embarresing though when an xr3i with some spotty spoilt brat beats you on the dual carriagway!

Yes but you are missing a point. You shouldnt be able to use the term 'Glacial' when talking about the acceleration of a sports car.

Very imposing car, but alas, no sign of a flux capacitor  :(

I *think* I know who that one belongs to :) You'll find his Daughter kicking about in an F reg purple Fiesta RS. I kept meaning to get some nice shots of it, then forgot to ask as she wasnt talking to me anymore.

As for the looks, the same guy that designed them is responsible for the Esprit, you can see the similarities...

Wonder is there a club event on, they've all been out of late. The one that was pictured in Winchester in this thread has been seen out and about too.

Mind you look very carefully at Rabbit's fuel flap...
