I've recently got a pair of axles from a 1990 RRC (Cheers Dan  ) to fit in my 1989 90.
From what I can see they are the same except the braking system. On the RRC they are dual pipes and on the 90 they are single. At first I planned on just installing a 2-1 t-piece but I'm not sure this is the way to go. I would install the t-piece as close to the caliper as possible. Would this work? Or should I buy the RRC master cylinder too? (Dan?! :D )
Gonna try and fit them this week so I can get muddy at the weekend!
Cheers!

But I like the idea of the vented discs and would like to keep 'em! It would be nice to have a car that stopped consistently!

Did the Range Rover have ABS?

Hmmmm. I'm not sure. Does it make a difference?

make two new metal pipes up going into a t piece for flexi pipe

make two new metal pipes up going into a t piece for flexi pipe
I think I'm going to try something similiar. I have been told that I can connect the existing brake pipes to one of the flexies on each side , with the other one going around the bulkhead and attaching to the corresponding flexy on the other side. I'll use a T piece on the rear axle. I've got access to a brake tester so I can check them out before I endanger anyone else! Anyone else tried this?
On a slightly different note, I have noticed that the top of the swivel unit (where the railco bush and shims goes) looks different on the RRC axle to the 90. The RRC one has what can only be described as a hole on the top which obviously opens it up for all sorts of crap to get in. Is there something missing? Rubber bung etc etc? I'm a bit worried that I'll fill it with mud!
Cheers!

hole in top is for abs sencsor remove put your one in place from axle it is swivel pin so check and adjust free play if needed

The RRC all had dual circuit callipers, whether vented or not. The Disco on the other had did not, the solid disks certainly were single circuit and I'm not sure about the vented disks either.
Anyway, if the callipers are good then a 'T' piece would be a suitable solution. One of the considerations with non-factory combinations is the capacity of primary and secondary circuits.
In the RRC the primary id the top half of the front callipers only, the secondary is the bottom half and the back brakes
On the disco the whole of the fronts arte the primary, again the rears (on their own) are the secondary.
Cleary there is a difference in the amount of fluid displaced in either sytem, I can't say whether the master cylinder is the same or not on non-ABS cars but on ABS cars they are totaly different anyway.
Otherwise you will probably find the castings are all the same and you can buy vented disk conversions (spacers) for any LR, the vented disk callipers were spaced on factory fitted parts anyway.

The vehicle was ABS as far as i know Si.
Was good to meet yer and suffer the hell we suffered through together.
Did Anthony ever get over the fact he had to do manual labour???

They're in! I used the existing T-piece on the rear and added a t-piece on either side. The brakes work fine (touch wood) although I think my props need balancing as there is a bit of vibration starting at around 25mph. Other than that they work well. They look pretty too as I painted 'em in Hammerite gloss black. Sweeet!
Badgers - Anth still hasn't forgiven me. Still whining on. Best get him that Baileys I've been promising him, after all.
Thanks for your help, guys.
Simon.

You should get Anthony to come down to enjoy the results of his labours!
