Hi all,
I've just converted my 1985 90 (so i assume it is an LT77 i have) to a 200tdi and now i've got the extra power would like to change the transfer box to give me better cruising speeds.
I've been advised that the 200tdi disco transfer box has a better ratio for acheving this.
Is it a straight swap over? What type of transfer box do i need to make sure I get off the disco? How much of a job is it?
Any help would be great!
Cheers

yep if you fit a disco transfer box you will get better crusing
but if your running 31 inch or bigger tyres, its going to struggle on hill's and you'll have to drop down gears
the lt230 transfer cases will mate upto all lt77 and r380 box's
only high range gearing is different, low range is stock throughout the lt230 range

basically if you want big tyres stick with the defender one

Thanks lad's, i'll be having a look round for decent disco trasfer box to get then.

Bolted one on to mine the other week, needed the handbrake linkage changing over too if I remember correctly, but was easy just a case of a couple of extra holes needed drilling and tapping.
(Just in case I've got it wrong, C reg 110 did have a 2.5 N/A, fitted a 200TDI from a Disco and swoped the transfer box at the same time.)
