Title: breather bolt????
Post by: disco-v8 on October 02, 2007, 14:57:13
ok im trying to make a breather for my dizzy, as ive nearly fully water proofed my engine, but as ive stoped the water entering thedizzy ive also stoped the condensation escaping from it, so i have to rip it of now and again todry it out..... its amazing how little water it takes to make a V8 run super crap!!!!!

well enough of boaring you with that, my problem is that im looking for a hollow bolt that i can attach a small hose to so i can fit it to the top of my dizzy... i had one with my WARN winch that fits to the air box and goes to the gear box on the wincg, so i know they do exsist but i just cant find any out there?????

can anyone help????

Or a rear diff breather from a frontera has a similar set up, nut with a thread to hold a pipe on, hollow to.

Now that looks very much like the diff breather on the frontera, and it has a metal pipe sticking out to fit the breather hose on, with a one way ball bearing vale

How about a tubeless tyre valve and just remove the actual vale from it? Then pop some pipe over the end. Either one of the normal rubber pull through type or a metal bolt in one.

didnt want to just stick anything on with just silican, like a tyre valve, i wanted to bolt it on and seal it with siliocan....

i saw a few things that you just push the hose into it, but i didnt thing that would seal very well from water, so i just gone and bought my self some 5/16 hose tail fittings with a 1/8 bsp thread so can bolt it on....

should be able to fit a small hose onto that  :D

ill keep you informed when i fit it

A tyre valve wouldn't be stuck on with silicon, you could fit one just as you would on a wheel, and guess what they are air and water tight to start with so don't need silicon, was just an idea, you can get extenders for them too, so instead of pushing a tub over the end it could screw on.

Just drill down the center of a bolt and make one. That is what I did to run a vacuum line through my dizzy. Helps if you have access. to a drill pres, as doing it freehand is a bit difficult.
