Post by: beast5680 on October 02, 2007, 23:52:06: those of you who sell stuff on the auction site, how long do you wait for someone to acknowledge they have won your item and pay for it before you have to get narked and report them?
been a week now and have been told by the bloke he,ll pay when he collects and he asked for my number but since then nothing :?

we recieved a very expensive decanter from a seller, which arrive very late and broken, we were not getting any joy from him so opened a dispute, he waited unti the very last hour ( literally) to respond to pay pal, eventually paypal agreed if we returned the item to the seller they would pay up, so wifey sent it dhl next day and trackable, matey (was not in) and never collected the parcel, so there fore paypal have now closed the case as we didnot return the item,Personally the whole deal stinks, i shall never be using there services again, The short of it is if you r a seller and keep quiet you walk away with my money

Post by: jjsaul on October 03, 2007, 11:58:21: this is one of the reasons i try to stick to cash on collection with items (ok i know its not always possible) but it does mean that if the item does not meet the description, you haven't sent a load of money up front...

Post by: tomkbucks on October 03, 2007, 12:41:49: we had this problem - bought a hoover on ebay - Â£50 with Â£15 postage, sold as ' refurbished ' got a dirty crap one that did not work ... was told to get a report from local shop to prove item was damaged... before it could go forward - result .... seller walked away with our money as no local shop would just ' take a look and give a quote ' without charging min of Â£25 ! rip of... now dont buy anything unless its new and boxed and seller has a LOT Of feedback..

Post by: Bettyblue22 on October 03, 2007, 13:08:45: Always remember that under the consumer credit act section 75 or 65 you can initiate a chargeback against paypal if you paid with your credit card up to 90 days after the payment. This one only applies to credit cards though.

For debit cards there is only protection with Visa. They cover their debit cards the same as their credit cards so although your not covered by the CCA, Visa International apply the same rules as the above mentioned CCA section internally so will go through the chargeback process.
