Title: Laser Eye Treatment
Post by: Thrasher on October 08, 2007, 15:34:34: Anyone had it done, and NOT got a good result at the end of it?

Recently that is, I understand the technology has improved quite rapidly.

Mind you... I don't like that being awake lark when they use a ciger cutter[sic] to trim open the cornea to reach the lens...!

Euuughhhh!

Mind you... be nice to go out in the rain without a hat again! :lol: :-&

I looked into it further and in May this year I had my lens's removed and replaced with artificial ones, same operation as for cataracts but with an varifocal lens in.

No glasses, no cataracts in the future, perfect vision and it will always be like this, aparantly (and I know someone this is happening to) with laser the vision can deteriate with age.

Best thing we have spent money on, unbelievable.

they proper watered when he came out of the op as both eyes were fighting to be the primary eyesight instead of working together

seems ok now i guess :)

Post by: burgerman on October 08, 2007, 17:22:27: I know that when i joined the railway, if you had any eye laser surgery done they would not accept you, i dont know why, but luckily as have good sight i did not ask why, Just as a foot note you can wear specs or contacts ok though

I may have to have it done because of vains bleeding in my eyes because i'n diabetic :evil: I've been told you can taste the burning in your mouth whilst it's being done :( :( :( If it for vison I would think long & hard as in the USA if you've had it done you can't drive when it gets dark :shock: The reason I say think about it, it's incase they bring that law out over here :roll:

Post by: Thrasher on October 08, 2007, 18:23:22: There are two types of treatment, I am looking to get the "bump mapping" or "wave" style that follows the contours - thus stopping problem people got with the "flat" surgery. It's supposed to aid vision when driving at night ;-)

Odd law tho ... how would they know you had had it done?

She had PKR and has eyesight as good as me.

I work in an opticians and have seen some of the procedures done in the laser clinic and would say that if you are thinking about it go for the wave front laser surgery as the results are a lot more accurate and there is less risk of any complications (which are less than 1% anyway). Ultralase is one of the best on the market and will only carry out the surgery if they are 100% sure of a successful result......hope that helps!

Post by: Thrasher on October 11, 2007, 19:27:45: Well had my test (that was fun - the stuff they use on your eyes is er ... entertaining lol) and am going for Lasik + wavefront and Intralase (sp). None of this scalpel stuff for me (eeek!)

So roll on 26th November :)

That's where the "from Â£395 per eye" comes in. If you have a low prescription then its Â£395, the worse your eyes the more it costs :shock:
