Title: Central locking
Post by: Dr Strangeglove on October 11, 2007, 11:05:45
I want to stop my doors opening from the central locking system as its going ape!  To open each door with the key or from inside will suit me and will stop me leaving some doors unlocked!!

Is their a controller I can just unplug?

Pull the fuse for the central locking out.

I had to do the same when mine went ape. The doors then lock on the key and from the buttons inside only.

What's wrong with it then?

It had the problem when I bought it!  When you open the door it opens them all but goes through a sequence of opening/closing in quick succession for about 6-10 times.

Well mine sometimes has a fit of opening them when I lock it remotely (I'd now bust the passenger's side lock) and it's down to the passenger's door lock mech sticking, if it doesn't lock fully it registers as open and so opens the rest of the car.

Not sure about the cylcing thing but after 6 cylces the central locking trips out to prevent the motors overheating.

Anyway, mine is fixed with a squirt of WD40 every week, perhaps oiling/adjustment might improve things?
