Title: timing belts making its mark

hay guys,

when changing my cambelt today ive noticed it has made a grove all the way round the plastic cover :shock:  :shock:

so looked,and replaced every thing to do with the cambelt and went for a run and now its worce,its made a hole in the middel and you can see part of the belt,

have i done some thing really wrong here or something as that carnt be right,

its never sat true on the rollers it sits about 1,2 mill off,still is but made a hole,

its a 8v top,16v bottom end,

mark are you sure the bottom pulley is full located?
sounds like its not to me

took it all off again today,still the same,

all the pullys are all the way on,

the only thing i can think of is the plastic cover missing a spacer or some thing,,,but never changed it or nothing,

now i took it for a run it dosent rub any more cos there any nothing for it to touch :shock:  :shock:  :lol:

what if i space the plastic cover further out,,

like i said,the belt is running where it always has done,just never been rubbing :?

There should be a spacer that doubles as an adjusting bolt in the center of the cover but it sounds like something ist seated. Other possibility is that you've overtightened it and the little metal distance peices inside the cover that stop the plastic compressing arent there.

Wrong belt is a possibility too, how does it sit on the pulleys?

ever since ive had the zuke its never sat on the pulleys right,

always just off a bit,,,1mill if that,

right ok,

ive just fitted a vitara 4u cover for the belt and its not rubbing :?  :roll:  :roll:

should i leave it how it is or take it somewhere to get checked out :cry:  :cry:
