Hi, A have a rangie with a front diff blown and a mate has a rangie for breaking with only the rear axle left to rip apart. can the diff from the rear axle be put in the front axle??

Ten four !!!

Yes.
The only things to whatch for are:
The number of splines on the diff/halfshafts as they changed from 10 to 24 in the early/mid 90s.
The location of the filler plug, on early RRC this was on the diff carrier but mozed to the diff pan on later models (not sure of the date it changed), not a problem if you end up with both, but if your axle is an early type then make sure you get an early type diff carrier.
The bearings changed (IIRC 1986) between the diff and the carrier from imperial to metric so if you are changing the diff between carriers then make sure it uses the same type of bearings.

Ok cool, cheers guys

Imperial diffs will still fit as the halfshafts never changed, as long as you don't want to rebuild it it's not a problem that I'm aware of.
