Has anyone fitted any gas struts to the bonnet of their disco?
I've got easy acess to some gas struts approx 180n so should do the job, I know I have to work out leverage forces etc but how arew they fitted?
I know you can buy kits but I'm a fan of make your own!
Thanks Andi K

There was a thread in the defender section a few months back with someone doing this. They said that ford escort boot ones were far to powerful andnearly took thier head off and ones from a chinckwichento or how ever you spell it were just right.
I want to do this to my disco too so I shall watch this thread and see.

Excellent, yes please!

I would like to do this too so I will be keeping a eye on this thread

Two of my mates have them fitted - brought them in a "deal" from one of the shows - think the lad selling them (from Worcester) used struts from a Pug

I have seen citreon BX bonnet struts used on a defender, very handy as they have the brackets riveted on to the grp bonnets, so removal is easy!

I think they sell them at scorpian. dont know how much though !!
