 ok what now
Just been out and my steering wheel is making some very noticable scratching noises as u turn the wheel. Its never done it b4 and its definatly a noise from the wheel....
doesnt seem to be effecting anything other then offending my ears
has anyone else had this? if so what was it
is it sumthing i should be worried about???
maybe im just paranoid now since the recent spat of things breaking
many thanks keith

Mine did that...it was the earth connection for the horn push...try some WD40 on it or similar...

The steering wheel is not catching the cowls (the plastic bits that cover the wiper switches etc) is it  Mini's & a lot of the early Autins used to suffer this as age crept on. If it is slacken the screws & give them a wiggle out of the way :D

Funny u mention that as i did loose my cool and use the bash it method and the cowling does move....  so far today no horrid noise hehehh the hit it method always works

I took my cowls off and ground the ridge that sits against the wheel down level with the rest of the cowl .as the noise that it was making was doing my head in
The next noise to sort out is the glass on the speedo rattling

My Rover 620 does that occasionaly and I just polish the dash board and a tad extra behind the wheel and it seems to sort it out. It is an easy fix you can do in a traffic jam / traffic lights if you really wanted too!!! And obviously keep a duster and polish in your car!
I guess WD40 would work just as well!!

Sorry to change direction a bit but has anyone changed their steering wheel for a smaller one :?:
I'am 6'3" and I want to fit a bucket seat in the front of my disco but that would put my knees right upto the steering wheel when pressing the peddles ,If I put one a couple of inches smaller in diameter that would give me leg room and hopfully the boss would bring it up a bit as well and feedback would be good ie. makes and suppliers etc. :D
