i have just fitted a 2004 rear axle from 110 td5 to my 1993 90.swb was told it was an easy swop ha ha ha ,fitted axle today had to change spring plates ,not a big job slotted in fine all bolts shocks went together first time then i saw problem prop to short , plus brake line not long enough cn sort brakes as i use old bracket and make up new pipes. but not prop some one must have done same can you help prop is about 3" SHORT MUST BE ONE THAT FITS OUT THERE

What type axle did your 110 origionally have and what type axle have you put on in its place?
If it was the sailsbruy type and changed to a more typical LR axle then IIRC they have a longer pinion shaft and a relativerly shorter prop than the typical LR axle.

i have 200tdi 90 not a 110 used 110 axel from td5 but new axel has a shorter diff case this is the problem.also can i run with no rear prop shaft as i need to get to work monday
-
Whoops, just read the 110 part and missed the 90.
Thats with the origional 1993 propshaft? Would fitting the diff out of the 93 axle cure the problem or is length differeance somewhere else?
-
tryed old diff but dont fit in new casing ,new diff looks very strong with bigger half shafts, need to change prop for diffrent one
-
sounds like you have a salsbury
Does the rear diff of the 110 axle remove from the front of the casing or the rear of the casing?
-
es tryed in old diff but case not deep enouth for crown wheel and 24 splines going in to diff .diff comes out of front like normal
-
may be a silly thought but would a td5 90 prop sort it out only a guess :?: :?: :?
-
AHA
i know why its to short
the gearboxs sit in a different place to the 200,300 & td5
-
are we on about the 110 gearbox;and is a td5 90 prop shaft longer??cos the new diff cases are different. Can someone measure one please. if you have one that is.

Ring Propshaft Technology in Rotherham and get it made to the right size, cheapest option now provided your current prop is in good nick.
Meanwhile you can drive in 2WD with difflock in but it can be challenging. My LSE just spins the wheels in FWD, there isn't enough weight.
-
:x its 20 mm short !!!!
-
Sounds like you have the 110 TD5 axle thats fitted with the p38 4pin diff. So its a custom prop that you need as none off the shelf fit.

90 front prop will do the job , as its the right lenth to meet .have checked ends and they are samr so going to get td5 front prop from were i had axel

I've posted on your wanted ad....
But if your 200Tdi front prop is the correct length... a TD5 front prop won't fit - as it'll be too short (engine/gearbox is further forward in a Td5/300Tdi).

Fixin is a doddle, any machine shop can cut the prop, insert a 2 inch piece weld together and hey presto, done it to fit a salsbury where i had a rover diff
