Just wondering what the average mileage that people get out of a set, I just found the receipt for the 235/70/16's that I have on the Disco, and I've managed 56000 miles...........they are starting to look a bit low now, so might have to consider replacing them, but I reckon 56000 is not bad.
Can anyone beat that ?

I got 65,000 out of a set of bfg's mt they where down to 5mm when i changed them and my local Land rover dealer got 100,000 out of a set of AT 8) 8)
-
My old Trac Edge tyres got to 100,000miles :D
-
In the 12 years i have had my 110 i've only ever had 3 sets of tyre's and thats doing 200,000 miles
-
Our works D90 has done 75k on them and they still have a little life left, I'm well impressed 8)

The BFG A/Ts on my 110 are presently at (circa) 64,000 & going very strong
I'll guesstimate that, barring damage, I could get at least 80,000 from them

So 56000 is not that high  , a few years back when we had company supplied cars (I now have to provide my own vehicle), I got through tyres at an alarming rate - one Astra used to knock out front rubber every 5000 miles..........I got hauled over the coals on several occasions as the lease company were getting upset !!!!
-
Depends how low you are taking them...?

SWMBO has got through 3 front pairs on her Mondeo in 77,000miles (+ a rear pair)

When the firm I was working for in the 80's had a fleet of escort vans mine was used for the tyres twice by the transport manager to replace other vans sets, in 65K I wore out one set one nutter only managed 8k...Funny thing was on accross country runs I was usually faster than the nutters!
Mind on me rs2000 10k would have been good on 225/60x13 Dunlop road rally tyres! 210 bhp and a get a move on driving style with 'soft' rubber does that, doing Newport Gwent to Southampton and back, via Salisbury plain, every weekend soon got through them, 65mins door-to-door was my best run, wouldn't want to try that on modern roads with scameras and all now though ;-)

Wifeys track edges did just over 40k Rears were still ok but fronts were shot,
On the other end of the scale Got just over a thousand miles from a front set of yokohama A008r fitted to a MK 1 astra gte  No burnouts but left a lot of lines around the bends

Thought Trac-Edges were meant to be rather long lasting as well?
-
With hind sight if the previous owners swapped front to rears would have covered a lot more miles, ( maybe 60k ? )

As has been said it depends on when you decide they have reached the end of their life. Often with tyres I decide they need swapping before the weather gets bad, any one else like that?
Trouble with BFGs is that they could be like that for a year or two more, but when the weather turns you could regret trying to eek that last little bit out of them. Just ask Lewis how annoying that can be
