What year ?? If its a early type, i would say quite possible for a weekend warrior type mechanic, I have done quite a few on my early disco, the first time took about 2 1/2 hours, But can now do both sides in about a hour,
I"ts relatively simple, just keep everything in order as you take it off and take ya time, outer bearing cases can be drifted out carefully, so no real need for any special tools,
As a tip clean the old bearing cases and you can use these to refit the new ones without damaging them
If you were much closer i would pop over n instruct you , but being far away and poorly still, no can do im afraid,
sure someone locally would assist you ??
Also reading your thread again, Take some time to see what the problem actually is, I say this because if you have taken up the slack on the bearing and not improved, Is it a bearing problem ??

52mm box spanner is the only special tool required and they only cost a couple of quid.
wheel bearings are a very easy job if all goes well, cant believe that garages charge a fortune to do them.
where abouts in brum are you? I come up from wales every couple of weeks, to Lichfield, but my mom lives in Redditch, so if you aint done it by the next time I`m up that way I would be happy to point you in the right direction
