I think the idea of sensible sized images is so people on slow connections can still see them without having to wait 20 minutes for the page to load.
I personally can't abide massive images in forums! It disrupts the flow of the page and gets really annoying when you have to start scrolling across the page to read the text. Likewise 3 foot long signatures are also a pain, but I can turn them off if I want as they aren't important.
600pixels is plenty wide enough for a forum, which keeps the image inside the prescribed borders while not taking aeons to load.

Personally speaking, if I have an image of my own to load, I'll use the websites software that allows a thumbnail & you just direct people to click on it to open a full-size image

I think this post was started to cause more trouble, I think he gets off on it, otherwise why post it in the first place, what picture was too big for you to see then ?

i meant time for a change to bigger images for me . sorry if images r unclear im limited to 75kb most r 500kb hence camera phone to the rescure.
