Title: List needed - Boot floor replacement
Post by: stuntman on October 27, 2007, 19:23:21
Hello one and all, can you help me put together a comprehensive list of ALL the parts needed if I'm replacing the boot floor and the 2 side pieces.

I've got:
Main Boot Section
Side pieces x2

Can anyone else help?

I knew I needed to to it but I hadn't realised how badly I needed to do it. I was in the boot today tinting the rear windows and my knee went through the floor! I was a little shocked to be honest

My good old Mot is due in december and I could do with sorting out some problems, ie the boot floor and a body mount (can you buy these?) and quite possibly the rear crossmember section. Oh joy!

Thanks Andi K

Break pipe

Under the rear seat on the off side the break pipe is atached to the bottom of the floor.

Cut mine when I did the floor.

If the cross members are okay you should be about there.

I reinforced mine with 5 mm steel to beefen them up.

Well ...............

....I really think I will need to do some 'resoration' on the rear cross member.

Do I need replace the rear 'beams' (is that the word?) that run under the floor and look like they reinforce the floor? And any trim clips etc, I need a fuel tank top brace (?) by the look of it aswell.

Any help greatly appreciated

Dont forget the rear seat belt mountings in the floor pan as well, they will need a reinforcement plate underneath them too

Also there the side pieces attach to the vertical sections of the bulkhead you may need some right angled pieces to attach the two sections, if you have some sheet you should be able to fabricate some sections where needed

I did a rear body crossmember on my mates, his was so far gone it was easier to replace the whole thing with one from a donor vehicle, complete with the chassis mounts, I reinforced the mounts before fitting, and then it was a case of alignment to the vehicle and setting the door hinge side upright at the correct angle so the door would close properly at the end, bit fiddly with jacks and wooden props but got there in the end
