how do you put a bumper back on a defender? I took the old one off to fit a winch bumper but the four bolts which run vertically into the top of the chassis rails have nothing threaded to tighten into? Have trawled around in the muck and cannot find any nut plates or anything? Its a Rebel 4x4 bumper so a good make...
I know I'm being really dim here, but I'm jiggered if I can see how to tighten those bolts!

Look at the old bumper and see if it had nuts attached to it.
The correct fixtures are two threaded plates. You have to slot them in and put the bolts down through. A bit fiddly on your own.
Here they are

Famous four list them. Part number FF001158 £4.50 each. You will need two. Alternatively, you could measure the gap between the bolt holes, and make some from 10mm bar. The correct bolts are 10mm thread.

Cheers thanks a lot for that, now finally it makes sense! Would a main dealer have them? I need to visit one on Monday anyway.

Probably. But take your chassis number with you, or it will take all day. :)
