Title: Rear Door Spring
Post by: Colin 009 on October 28, 2007, 13:34:46: Hi Guys, my rear door wont open without me holding up the the top switch as I open the door from the inside, its great for security but means I cant fit my dog guard.

Can anyone tell me the best place to get the spring from? I guessing thats whats gone anyway.

Post by: peasey on October 28, 2007, 13:51:52: i think there are some spring kits on ebay.i think that they do them for all 4 doors in one kit so i would be tempted to do all 4 in one go.i have never done it so im not speaking from experiance here but have heard its a real pig of a job mate so good luck

It looks one horrible fiddly grrrr job to do.

Passenger door done and something else broke. Tailgate spring is now somewhere on my to-do list below 'Sell car'

Post by: stuntman on October 28, 2007, 17:47:57: Mine is the same, I have taken the cover off the rear door and looked at the mechanism, there is an expansion spring that should hold a part of the lock down, have a look for you self it may not be the sping inside the lock it may be this outer spring?

It would be a good idea to photopraph the lock linkages before you remove them though.

I have replaced all of mine at one time or another.

It took me 4 hours to do the front door (which basically has to be ripped apart just to get to the lock) and 20 mins to do the rear door.

The spring kit weren't available when my boot door went so I had to replace the whole lock mechanism (about Â£50). The spring kits are staight forward. I got mine off ebay.

If you have the RAVE CD for your bus then there are actually pretty good diagrams in there. Saved my bacon.

Post by: treeman on October 29, 2007, 08:42:54: the same wuth mine but also the rear door lock seems to be siezed, tried my own spring an that worked till i tried to lock it :lol: this looks like it mite be my next job :(
