just picked mine up and OMG how heavy is it
The guy said it was 6mm thick but i think by looking at it thats its more like 8mm thick. its galvanised steel with a reinforced strip in it.
I think it weights a couple of stone

You wait til you drop it on your head whilst lying on your back trying to fit it :x

or as i have done.....working on the under side while on my back, head under gaurd....
i put my head down on the floor and miss jusged how close i was to the floor and banged the back of my head.....instant reaction
lift head fast
smacked my nose off the steering gaurd real hard.......enough to make me pull my head back quick and nut the floor behind my head again...
i wasnt very happy when i came out with a sore head and a bloody nose i can tell ya......seems those gaurds do what they say

if its galv, the steel plate probably is 6mm as 8mm steel would be stupid, but with galv on that it may well be quite a bit thicker overall.
hopefully you wont bend it then!

Mine is ali so it's not that bad. Ok so it's bent now but it's there to protect and it does the job fine, even if that means it has to absorb some of the damage.
