Title: anyone here work for pipex or indeed dealt with them
Post by: strapping young lad on October 29, 2007, 21:51:35
bit of background
i initially requested a cancellation of my broadband account on 15th aug
they mistakenly gave me my pac code or whatever it is which nullified the cancellation... ?

anyway i have been given at least 5 cancellation dates after requesting to cancel and each time they have messed up.

what can i do about this as i am being charged for a service i cannot use!

getting quite peeved at this crappy service from them!

personnaly mate i would give them a call and explain what has happened so far. tell them that ou have a new supplier from so and so date and thats when you will stop paying them. you have given them so many chances to get it sorted but they are messing you about.

arrange the date and then hold them to it. dont let them fob you off .... they have tried it with me virgin though

Cancel the direct debit.  If they're trying to debit money from you incorrectly, the bank is on your side.  If you keep a copy of the cancellation paperwork ready to send to the bank if they query it, you'll be fine, although I don't think it'd come to that anyway.

We had trouble with Pipex, thought we had cancelled and they then took another payment from us after we transfered to our new ISP. I phoned and got told they would not be refunding the payment cos it wasn't their mistake. Got straight onto my bank who refunded the money cos of the DD promise banks run and a couple of months later I got a letter from Pipex apologising for their mistake and saying they had refunded the money followed by a letter from my bank saying they were taking the money back which was fair enough as they had given me the money so the Pipex refund was theirs.

dont tell em you have a new provider tell then they gave you a MAC code incorrectly. Mac codes are used when transfering to another provider. You havent got a new provider, the way it works is you give the MAC code to the new provider they then get in touch with pipex and you dont lose service for long when they change over.
Pipex will have been waiting for the new provider to get in touch.....so hence youve still got service.

Advise them of the error and they should sort it out.

i told them in sept that the mac was no longer required for two reasons

the new owner of the house doesnt want broadband and i was going with a separate provider on another line in another part of town

i presume mac codes are linked to the telephone line

i asked for the mac code prior to speaking to the new owner to pre-empt them requiring it for broadband but have since not bothered so ive cancelled it

after 30 mins on phone to pipex they have cancelled me proper.. but said to keep my DD open for a rebate.. i think ill risk losing 20 quid in case they decide i need to be charged more!
