Hi all,
For a few months now I've had a very small leak on the power steering system. Traced it to a small perforation in the pipe going from the pump to the box, caused by rubbing against the other pipe going from the box to the reservoir. Anyway, tried to fix it this afternoon temporarily using Plastic Padding's 'Leak Fix'. Just thought I'd let you all know that it didn't work. Probably because the pressure under operation.
So obviously I need to order the replacement pipe earlier than expected. Can anyone with a parts catalogue for a 95 300Tdi Discovery confirm that the part number of the power steering pipe from pump to box is QEP105760 before I place the order? :?

Holy cow, that's not going to be cheap. I took mine to a local hydraulic engineers and had the flexi pipe replaced.
-
Damn sight cheaper doing it that way.
Even Rimmers don't quote a price for them in their catalogue
-
I just last week had the one on my 200tdi fixed at an agricultural engineers suppliers place.... they cut off the old flexi pipe totally, fitted a union with an olive, and made a new flexi pipe, with an adaptor on the pump end as they couldn't use the origianl one..... total cost,
Less than 12 quid!!!!

Am I missing something, LRDirect have the following:
QEP105760
Pressure Pipe - Pump to Box 300Tdi
£32.24 inc VAT
If this is the bit then I'm more than happy to pay this. The disco is our only car so I can't take the pipe off and go shopping :D
-
That's a lot less than I expected, maybe now that more are being sold the price is coming down.
If that's all it is then go for it.
P.S. is it me or is your Disco playing up a bit at the moment :?
-
Certainly is. It's my own fault, I've been so busy in work that I've let these little things build up over the last year without sorting them. In addition to the more pressing problems of the drivetrain and power steering, the drivers side button won't go down with the central locking (or the key since something snapped inside  ), the back door button won't go up on the central locking so has to be opened with the key, some lowlife nicked my spare wheel cover, and all the buttons have fallen off the stereo
-
Oh I've done the door lock thingy, it's a cruddy piece of plastic arouond the outside of the door lock.

is it anything like this???? i can tell you that this in NOT for a 200...!!
And i know the 300's are different, so it could be the one????

It's like that but longer and has two rubber hose sections. I think this one is for the LHD model as the distance is much less. Mine has another metal section that runs along the cross-member under the radiator and up to the box on the other side. LRDirect have the one in your link for around £17 so it's looking hopeful that the one they have for around £33 is mine.

Cool.... for 33 quid brand new, go for it!!!

Bought the pipes, which turned out to be perfect copies of the originals (you never know 8) ). Pretty easy to fit, although if I hadn't been changing both the hoses (from the reservoir to the box and from the pump to the box) I would never have been able to reach one ot the connections on top of the steering box with the other still attached.
No more leaking red stuff on the road :D
Now I just have to sort out the brown stuff leaking from the transfer box
