Just taken my old electric aerial off the disco due to it having a bit of a tree related incident whilst playing on sunday. Went to fit my new rubbery one onto it and got it all together, low and behold.
Lost Interior lighting and also operation of CD player......
Done all of the obvoius things (looked for loose wires/fuses gone etc.) cant find anything wrong!
Any ideas?!

Something stupid like the radio earthing through the arial :?
The interior light on the TDI poacked up months ago (engine's been in piece for months too) and when it went, all the lights stayed on for 10 minutes then timed out and now won't come un unless I pull the fuse out for a second, then the same, on for 10 minutes.
Might be worth checking the same hasn't happened ie a short somewhere that makes the lights thing they are on permenantly.

I replaced the aerial on mine a few months ago - used a standard replacement though. There are two live feeds to insulate if your new aerial is unpowered, one fixed live and one that's switched by the radio on/off switch (this is the one that triggers it to raise or lower). My first thought would be that one of those is loose and causing fuses to blow.
I've also recently fitted a small button-shaped rocker switch in the switched live feed. It looks fine - tucked it in next to the headlight adjuster panel so it's behind the keys when driving, it's about the same diameter as the headlight adjuster knob so it blends in well - and it means I can have the CD player running with the aerial down while driving in areas with overhanging trees. MP3 transmitters seem to work just as well with the aerial down too.

mine came with a hole in the middle at the front of the roof... i slipped a vectra standard "bee sting" type ariel in, plenty silicone round and under it.. stuffed it down the pillar, and bobs your dads brother in law!
