Nice lead story on the cover of the 'Yorkshire Post'[/b] this morning, it cheered me up to see a Chief Constable speak out.
Sir Norman Bettison speaks (http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/Top-police-chief-hits-at.3450493.jp)
I'll bet he's gone up even further in the eyes of his force :D

Which bit, copper's doing things for the right reason getting into trouble, or more BULL about H&S and myths attached by those that want to abrogate THEIR responsiblities?

The HSE you can't operate police and rescue services with hard and fast rules. Good training and the right equipment but at the end of the day if these people and the general public didn't take risks a lot of people would die.
I can see where this is going the next thing will be insurance companies refusing to payout if someone dies trying to rescue someone.

It is nice to see a Chief Constable talking sense for a change. I wonder if it is catching?
-
Good on him I say, about time someone in authority spoke up about this.

HSE have a say over military practises in areas of conflict!

Wasn't there a report recently in the media that a certain Fire Brigades 'top-brass' banned the crews from assisting a local charity/Lions Club/Rotary Club (whichever) from taking the banners & bunting down after a gala/carnival??
The 'brass' were concerned that the crews had to climb ladders..................................
Honest!!!!!

Our H&S guru went nuts when i told him i was off into the compound with my own chainsaw to chop up some pallets....
"ahh, no training, no PPE...."
i told him that i was only winding him up, as i prefer wearing my slippers to cut wood, and didnt have them with me at the time...
when he wasnt looking i got out "el wacko" (large hammer) crow bar, and bow saw... and set about the task, i though i should probably leave the chainsaw in the passenger footwell as its no exactly discreet enough..
Personally i think H&S should be correctly rebranded "common sense" and taught in secondary schools instead of obselete studies such as religion, french, and PE.

French, another dead language like Latin.
But PE is useful, teaches team spirit and promotes health lifestyles.

Then there's also the other 'Dark Side' that has struck fear into the likes of 'Lord Snagg-Pyle' already and is raising its Hydra like head at our Hospital.
