Title: HELP ! DIFF CASING
Post by: fuddy-mukker on November 08, 2007, 18:06:12
Once again i have bust the front diff casing on my 1.6 vitara, that wooden leg of mine has a siezed knee joint and left me flat out on the throttle !  [!Expletive Deleted!] !!  [!Expletive Deleted!] !! Is all i can say.

Has anyone got a spare i can buy for a reasonable price, preferably within 30 miles of the Poole, Dorchester area as it would be easier to collect it.  I only need the casing with the output flange in place, the diff is still fine.

Waiting in antisipation......

Thanks

Chris

chris if you have a heavy right foot it might be worth spending the money and buy a gv steel axle

I have a dead front diff from a Santana 1.6 SWB Soft Top.

Its still on the car but I need to change it in the next few days. The diff itself is not happy, pinion bearing has collapsed but the casing is unharmed. You'll have to work out how to get it over to you but once its off its yours for a few beers. I may be persuaded to strip it down if I have time so its only the casing if its not a huge amount of work.

tbh chris
i had this additude with my x-90 i went throu 10 front diffs in 12 months
if you want hassle free front diff steel is the way to go m8
if rich gives you his fubard diff thats kool  but if you have to buy one your most likely lookin @ £40-£50 at most scrappies nower dayz so thats maybe 5 front diffs + time getting them and fitting them
so £200 plus a rob storr solid crush coller (contridiction in terms really) @ £25 ur have a happy front end

as said chris this is just my opinion in the end its all down to funds
