Kind of went downhill after series 6.

But then it was only one of the original writers left.

Unless the film was as much of the origional cast and writers as possible it would probably only ruin the series for some.

I was royally dissapointed having seen the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy film, but the graphics and such were good

I've always enjoyed Red Dwarf, but have to agree that later ones were nowhere near as good. Although I do like Hattie Hayridge as Holly. the dumb blonde approach just seems to work!

It would have been better if "Holly" (egg-head man version) remained on the red dwarf computer, and blond woman "Holly" stayed on starbug / dave's watch IMO

The film stalled. Last I heard they had go to the point of being ready to film, but no-one seems to want to stump up the cash :(

Much as i watched all the series i agree with the masses that it dropped away from series 6.
For the ultimate Red Dwarf though, read the books.
I've read the first 2 and they were brilliant.
I love the chapter explaining the whole cat evolution and their war's
I'm about to start reading the Last Human book.
I just found it in a charity shop for £1
Future Echo's is my favorite TV episode with Better Than Life coming a close second.

i loved red dwarf and moddelled myself on lister for some time....

i`m actually planning my first tatoo shortley..

Ouroboros...

"our rob.. or ros"

the mutton vindaloo beast is the most memorable, and i had to watch on video (thanks to local charity shops/boot sales) up to the episode where the holly hop drive changed norman lovett into hatty haydridge, as even my dad, the second biggest fan, didnt have a clue when or how they swapped!

...and agree, later episodes were not a patch on the early ones!

Anyone seen the USA remake of it?  Just not funny, at all.  One of them's a girl for heaven's sake, I'm not sexist but that just ruins the joke.

There were two pilot episodes, one is more "common" than the other (and arguably a more realistic attempt) and had Robert Llewyln in it as Kryton from the start.

The "female" in question was Cat and was played by Terry Farrell of Deep Space 9 fame...

Classic BBC comedy...

...you know, back in the day when you could still get comedy that didn't have americans shouting at one another while the audience 'whoop and holler'!

Whatever happened to quality comedy?

Two Ronnies
Morecombe & Wise
Only Fools..
The list is endless and all performed by our excellent British actors.
You know the stuff I mean.
