Title: Safari snorkel sealing
Post by: Lincs niva on November 10, 2007, 11:44:08
Ok i had to dismantle my snorkel in order to weld the inner wing's up.

Ive just got around to re-sealing my snorkel up.Now in my opinion ive sealed all the pipes up that should be sealed.

Ive covered the snorkel top to try and stall the engine that should tell me its all sealed i belive. However with the snork top covered the engine just dies slightly it doesnt actually stall will this be ok or do i need to seal everything again

Ok its a zuki vit 1.6 16v..

Cheers Gav

If the engin don't stall air is getting in somewhere, if air is getting in then water will! Does your snorkel then join the original air box? On my Jimny there is a small drain hole in the bottom of the air box. I seal this with a plastic number plate screw and a blob of Silicon.

Carb or EFI?

Remeber the carb models have an air intake underneth the carb from the hot air stove on the manifold.

Ok bit of an update on the snork..

I put a carrier bag around the snorkel top,I bliped the throttle a little and it statred to cough and splutter it also sucked the bag to the snorkel top. When i took my foot of the pedal the rev's dropped right down and stalled the engine.

Does this mean its sealed ok??

You've sealed up the air-box's drain hole too?   You'd think they'd mention it in the destructions wouldn't you?!
