Title: Nothing to do with cars but...
Post by: Jesska on November 12, 2007, 06:47:48
Our son has got his 1st tooth!!! (Ok Steve you can laugh at me now when you read this tonight) but for anyone who has children will sympathise when I say he's been teething (and we've been suffering the consequences) since he was 6 weeks old, he was 8 months old last Wednesday

Ok I'll stop boring you with useless topics now

Ah yes, the bad nappy rashes, the tears, the sleepless nights, I remember then well and all you get to show for it is A tooth, typical eh
When the first is out it gets easier for them, Maddy has 6 now  8) She can eat toast and all sorts now, so funny seeing her tear things up

My sympathies, I know how unsettling the teething stage is.

When Guy was teething (He's 5 years old today - Happy Birthday Guy!  ) I used Boots' teething crystals and found they worked a treat!

Just remembered what we used to give ours when they were teething (has been 14 years so had to think hard) Bickiepegs! Take a look here (http://www.westons.ws/acatalog/Online-Catalogue-BIC16T.html) Used to buy them at boots I seem to remember and they always had one strapped to their bibs when they were teething  :D

Put a teething ring in the fridge for night use

and put starch powder on the botton end to cure the rash  :D (It does work honest and it's cheaper than posh creams and natural) mother in law was an old fashoned district nurse

ok options for teething kids and parents of teething kids. (speaking from experience)

cold chunks of veg like cuccumber and carrots

ice lollies . home made low sugar or jsut plain ice

cal gel

calpol or some such

cold gel teething rings

for parents I suggest

wine
 beer
alcopops
temezpam
ear plugs
some one taking over for a few hours

blessthem they seem so frustrated and in pain when it happens. Rowan (now 5 ) only had 4 teeth till she was nearly 2 then they all appeared within 2 weeks. Mind you she was also bald as a coot and now has glorious thick gold hair........ my little heartbreaker!

Its the most wonderful feeling in the world, its gonna sound all soppy, but it don't matter if you've been up with them for the last 36hrs (which I've done when he's had a cold) as soon as you see them smile at you nothing else matters, its annoying how they've got you wrapped round their little finger from the word go!!
