That looks great and a long paddle from Devon
-
lol.
That was when i was at college doing a FD in Adventure Education Management.
We paddled from Fort William and planned to get to inverness following the Caledonian canal.
Took 3.5 days to get to the end of lochness. Where the weather turned really rubbish and the wind managed to cause a 4 ft swell and dumped us on the beach at lochend. It was at this point kanckerd we decided to call it a day. after all when you can get two of those lashed together to plane and surf a wave you know your pushing your luck.
Two other's decided to carry on by themselves and spent a fair bit of time in the drink, and got washed onto the shore.
It's amazing how the previous evening we were fighting 2 - 3 ft swell about half way along near Foyers and it took two of us using a High brace to keep the boat upright as we had to cross the loch to get to a suitable campsite, and once got it broadside to the waves, Cue one boat at 25 degrees.
Ahhh i still want to go do it again. Never had soo much fun. 8)

looking forward to getting out there/

I had to move a few canoes for my mate last year:

Still waiting to have a go in the big one though  I did suggest a pub crawl along the Leeds-Liverpool canal :(mad):

There is two ali poles and the sheet is my army poncho. And so lashed together it creates a sail. We had a tail wind so used it to sail along at a rate where we just paddled to keep it going in a straight line.
Can't remember the speed but the GPS was saying that it was better then solely paddaling along.
As you can see in the above piccy i was just using the paddle as a rudder, whilst my fair companion could admire the view.
It was only when the wind got too strong that we took them down as else they would of just thrown us in.

It has been known that whilst on an adventure type holiday in North Wales, that two Canadien Canoes are lashed together and then two people stand on the sides, two people sit at the front on the seats and one to steer (oh and the dog watching) - using a kisu (not sure on the spelling) (emergency tent) as a giant sail - then we powered our way down Llyn Padarn near LLanberis, before having a picnic lunch at the museum and then paddling back across the lake. It was awesome to see the kind of speeds we were able to achieve!!

if yur gonna cheat, id go the whole hog and get an outboard motor :D
-
No if your going to cheat then just get on to moving water then you won't need a motor plus alot of fun. Plus you can paddle a real boat

any time i always love a paddle any time of year!!

Usually, any time of the year is good. Unfortunately I'm under doctors orders not to paddle until december/january time having had glandular fever!
What do You guys paddle? Ive currently got a Dagger G-force as my playboat, and a Riot Sniper for when it gets a bit serious
Btw, anyone wants any paddle I have an asociation with a certain high quality paddle maker!
CHris

Im under doctors orders to, hoping to be allowed to get back to it in the summer.
I paddle well I say I paddle I have a Pyranha Ammo brand new never seen the water :sobsob: but Pyranha did give it to me free \:D/  grate company.
I also paddle a ranger 14 (canoe) as for paddles ive brought one last year from MB paddles.
-
I wouldn't shout about canoe ownership too much. Gordon Brown will stick a 'water usage' tax on them.
-
How did you get a boat free out of pyranha!? Theyre unbelievably tight usually! We couldnt even get any discount off them for uni kit!
Be a bit careful with the pyranha plastic too......I kida dented the nose of the demo Ammo in at JJs whilst safety boating!!!
MB? Mitchall blades?- Legendary- I sell em lol!!
