While I was adding the CB in my Disco, I came across a small connector behind the trim on the windscreen pillar. It had two wires coming out of it and was obviously intended to be plugged into something that mine doesn't have. I was just wondering if anyone knows what it is? My first thought was a power feed for heated mirrors.

If its a 300 could be for illuminated mirrors on the sun visors?

Yep, it's a 300 - that would make sense, I didn't know those were an option!
I'll have to pop the trim off again and try putting a multimeter on it, see when it's live.
-
IIRC they are thin wires to a black plug.
-
Yep, thin wires - don't remember the plug colour though.

Do you have a tweeter in the trim panel? Could be for them if you don't. :)

Motion sensor connections for the alarm system??.
My motor has them fitted.

Mine has the ones on the headlining just above the rear view mirror, did they fit extras in some Discos?
Sev, I'm intrigued by the idea of tweeters. Mine only has the conventional speakers in the front doors and rear pillars (replaced with two way units) and the subwoofer in the back door. Where did these tweeters go, and is the wiring likely to be connected at the other end? I'm more inclined to try to fit those than illuminated sun visors!

The ES had alarm sensors and an auto dipping rear view mirror also illuminated mirrors with lights each side of the mirror in both driver and passenger sun visors they also had tweeters in the bottom of the windscreen side trim.

Thanks - so it could be any of those really! I would guess at the tweeters as I'd expect the illuminated mirror/auto dip mirror wiring to be concealed behind the headlining (where I found the sunroof wiring). I'll get the multimeter out if it's a bit warmer and see what it energises with, starting with the radio. The auto-dip mirror sounds rather handy too...
Edit, I have the alarm sensors are just out of shot below the interior light here. I assume there's something inside the housing, I've not investigated as I know they're fragile:

Howdy,
If you don't have tweeters in the A pillars then that's what they'll be for. I have them and have'nt noticed any other plugs in the pillars. :?
-
they are for tweeters, My brother in law(a auto electrician) was fitting a phone kit in mine and I saw these cables and asked what they were for.

Thanks chaps - now to keep an eye out for a couple of A pillar trims and speakers from a salvage yard...
