Wheres the thermostat?
Heaters cold and engine never gers warm unless in very heavy traffic.
So I want to fit a new thermostat, but havent a clue where it it?
Help please
-
which engine, 900 or 1100?
1100 is on the passenger side under the coil pack
My fave cars, had a few, inc a turbo'd one

When I went to France I drove the girlyfriends to Waterloo Station, as my 110 would not of gone into the underground car park..
I laughed all the way there...
Shouted "WEEEEEEEEEE" as I went around corners.....
And giggled everytime I 'beeped' the horn, as it vibrates on your feet...
All that from a car which is of Kinder Egg quality......

Thanks for that its a 1100, and the best £150 I have spent, its fun to drive very cheap and fast but economical, only down side is tyres are 36 quid each.
I bought it to make a few quid but I use it for work and the tip runs etc to save dirtying the Disco and the Vitara only does 21 MPG its saved me a fortune it fuel, even brought a motorbike from Wales in the back of it

Well fitted the thermostat, but its now leaking I think from behind the cam belt cover so assumeits the water pump?
Any ideas?
-
yes winchman sounds like the waterpump is leaking via its bypass valve
-
may i just add if you remove the cambelt it's advisory to replace it......
-
Thanks for that.
I am going to get the pump and cam belt changed.
I wonder why its just started when I changed the thermostat?
-
could be headgasket... also check the condition of the radiator - do the pipes get pressure?
-

it is a Safe engine so it will not matter if the cambelt snaps as you just time it up, put a new belt on and away you go.
but whilst in there do it
and they are prone for headgaskets
-
yes understood its a safe engine but you'd still be annoyed at it snapping in some remote corner of the globe!!
