Title: I'm a clutz
Post by: snezza69 on November 19, 2007, 13:02:54: Hello all, last summer I put a new petrol filler cap on my project.

The good news is I seem to have mislaid the key. The tank is now empty. Does anyone know of any tricks for getting the cap off?

I have resigned myself to the fact I will need a new replacement and will make sure I am more careful with the new one.

If you can PM me any suggestions as it would not be a good idea to have the suggestions in an open forum. I would be much apreciated.

Post by: TechnoTurkey on November 19, 2007, 13:54:20: Drill a hole in the middle of the lock barrel, smack a screwdriver into the hole hard with a hammer and give it a good twist. Should unlock, if not just keep using wider drill bits until it works. Don't drill too deep though or you will end up with a petrol tank full of swarf!

Any suggestions?
