as above really, looks awful mate.in my mind theres just no point in it.i would want a discovery not a monster truck and i bet he spends more time under it than he does driving it!!!!

In the second picture it looks very well put together and professionally finished, it has real "wow" factor and as a show vehicle is great.

However, would I use it?

Well, it won't fit up my drive, so I'd have to leave it on the road, but it's in theory not street legal.  Even if it was, on road it would be worse than useless, it would not fit anywhere, it's probably very slow and hideously thirsty.  I could not tow with it as the hitch would not reach the towbar, I could not greenlane with it as it's going to be hopeless in ruts (one side will probably try and fall in the ruts and it might roll) and it probably won't fit down most of the lanes I drive or under trees.  There is no way I'd do a playday like Sibbertoft in it as it will probably break halfshafts like they are going out of fashion and it will probably roll at the drop of a hat.  It would be great in deep water, however what might seem like a challenging ford in my truck will be a little paddle for that!  So what's teh point?

So, in my mind, "poor theory, beautifully executed".

I agree, I quite like it as a show vehicle, but boy would it be hard to live with. It may even be able to make some money doing small challenge courses at shows etc?

biggest problem with that thing wud be ud have to use all new tracks when offroading, u cudnt do greeenlaning as it wud be too wide, and to be honest it does look hideous and does he have an uprated engine to power those wheels as ive lost loads of power just putting my insa turbos on and theyre big wheels but those are insane

you aint lost power
just the gearing has gone through the window

this is a prime example of looks good, but thats its sole purpose... maybe for advertiseing, weddings etc.. but no real potential offroad... too top heavy, gearing totally minced (although could be sorted with a oodd gearbox/transfer case combo..) and that size of wheel ust throws massive forces onto the likes of brakes and props etc..

i`m more of a functional over fun sort of person..

..now, if it had been done by widening, and pruning to keep the centre of gravity low (and thus more stable) with all the things mentioned previous uprated, then the look could be quite useful, i`m sure someone reading will know the disco that i`m thinking of at the mo...

12 inch lift isnt required for that size tyre at all. the problem is hes gone too wide and offset them far too much, dont forget you only need 2 more inches of upward space compared to a 35. Mines on 35 and is pretty much on the limit articulation wise.

It looks crap because the lift is so high. The icelandic guys manage to find a balance. I was lucky enough to have a go in a 40 inch tyres landcruiser in Iceland about 12 years back....now that was done properly...here a series 111 with 31's was considered extreme!!

It had 2 gps units when they were still mega bucks aswell.... damn i want to go to Iceland again!! -35 is an amazing experience

There's a TD5 Disco on the DOC with 40s. Looks nicer too, but it's quite a conversion, as it's on portals too.

You can see it here (http://www.rikslandys.co.uk/), but again, no idea how useable it actually is over here.

I don't suppose it's ideal for green laning, but if you want a truck to drive across ice caps, or more likely to take to the shows and get attention, I think it does the job fairly well.  I can't honestly say that if somebody gave me one, I'd sell it on straight away!

I like it when people do this sort of thing ,

It pushes the envelope a little each time somthing like this is done  8)

Imagine the first guy who thought "I know I'll fit 235/85's on my disco and then found he'd have to lift it and cut arches

If he hadn't then the normal stuff we do wouldn't be normal .

I think from a certain angle it looks cool yes some of it is messy and could have been done better and yes it might not be practical or indeed legal but and it's a big BUT, if people like this didn't try somthing new now and again nothing would move forward ..

I think it looks like a full size RC car and for that I quite like it. :D
