Are they any good?

I need to know all the gossip on them plaese as looking at buying one :shock:

Err, reliable I think, economy not bad, slow as a clockwork house.

Good tow-car though.

had a new one in 96 or 97 i think, it was when they first come out (good old days) anyhow, it was a great bit of kit, i towed alsorts withit, and never had a problem. (never kept them longer than about 9 or 10 months though!)
I wouldnt be buying any p38 now though, to many issues with them aspecially as they are getting a few years and miles under there belts.
repairs are still very expensive, and they seem to be constantly needing them.
ive been dying to buy a few of the late p 38's for a while now,(look like megga value for money), but my LR man keeps makin sure i dont! will have to stick with the 110.
have seen a few new shape now for sub 15K.

My mate has one.  They are prone to head problems inc. cracking.
His was paid for  by previous owner and done by someone I know. Yes they are a bit slow but he tows burger vans so.....

Economy he rekons better than 200/300 Tdi disco's he had  :D

All suspension and gearbox same as all P38's

I have the DHSE Auto and love it.

Yes it's not the fastest but more than enough if you don't want points on your licence.

I am not a fan of BMW but as I see it Land Rover and BMW engineering can't be a bad combination?
