seems as much as i love ud, theres a lot of irritating "common faults" which are slowly ?(due to time and money) getting sorted...
heres the list to date:
boot floor, sills, arches, rear x member, pillars (T & B) mauled by the
metal moth of destruction.. - almost fully sorted
front prop UJ`s - breifly sorted, but second hand parts means job probably needs doing twice.. still got a rumble!
heater blower doing neither - done
central locking issues.. - ongoing..
headlights that wouldnt excite a moth - philips supervison, and a damp cloth, then a light bar so i can see the bonnet and dashboard at night! - although now much better than before
exhaust rutting against the inner wing/rear mudflap bracket - mysteriously self healed.. plans envolving the angle grinder should it return
internal pannelling detached and dismembered - work in progress, although mostly done
the previous owner smell... - now replaced by fags and dog.. with some wet carpet for good measure
that random rattle - mission aborted.. it doesnt play fair!
oil leeks - its a landrover, no leek = empty
naff wipers - fixed from the quid shop... yes £1/pair... guess how long they lasted?! :lol:
sluggishness - clicked here, then went outside in the dark for half hour (http://www.bobtail.org.uk/ninety/orange/ninety_19.htm)
sloppy handling - to be expected with +2", no arb`s, and 235/85 R16s, but pitman arm nipped up, track rod ends replaced.. slack bolts on front arms nipped up, rear springs replaced, rear shockers almost replaced.. much better
LRWMS* not in corect place - kept removing him from the gearstick, steering wheel, rear view mirror etc.. and chucking him out the window... he got the hint eventually!
SWMBO* not happy - threatened to buy new SWMBO - now all well, infact she wants one!
lack of illumination over dash/instrument area - ongoing project - bulbs from a nova dash fit tho![/img]
water pump worn/leaking - new part £30, fitting in freezing conditions, priceless
the disco lean - fixed by parking half on the woodpile to force the lean other way... seems to work
gearbox issues - to be swapped for a known good second hand item when the clutch is swapped in next month
hideous blue interior - come round to actually liking it in favour of changing for a less 80`s colour... although could be swayed if a nice leather interior turns up for the right kind of money...
Think thats about it... although i`m sure i`ve missed a few!

good effort though - thanks for posting. It's good to hear that other people have the same / similar troubles.

Almost forgot..
Rare but very mischevous LRM* - Left at farm with no back door on.. and 3 cats roaming around... i dont think he`ll trouble me anymore!
*LRM - landrover mouse, of the genus "interiorus munchus electro chewalotus stinkus wee..us"

I would like to congratulate you on actually keeping a record. I started off with a must do and a done list to see what I did.
I gave up as got too depressing as the to do list always grew faster than the done one!! :lol:

You had a mouse? I had a mouse, in the 101. It's always been spiders in the Disco - presumably because the panel gaps aren't THAT big. In the 101, on the other hand, I wouldn't have been surprised to have found a cow in there...

I have spiders. I'm trying to teach the larger ones to read maps, but they seem more interested in nesting in my door mirrors!

no sign of the LRM since, although i was told that i had to clean all the macdonalds rappers out before the MOT and clean it, as it would go down better... :lol:
rear door hinges failed - both replaced as back door needed ropes and trees to aid opening...

God I've been lucky after three years ownership the following repaired/replaced
front window regulator X2
motor for rear door lock
hub seals X4
clutch & fly wheel
exhaust ( binned the cat eeek meeow)
erg in b1n file
lift pump
alarm replaced with a toad system (out of my previous Disco )
tin of Hammerrite silver ( wheels nice and blingy)
" " Blue (for boot floor and other bits of metal)
new dog (other one was a back seat driver and kept shaking and covering his eyes when I put him in the back)
Now you watch the engine will blow up on me now :D

Jobs done:
Replaced wheel bearings and the related odds and ends they took with them...
Replaced headlight bulb connector blocks.
UJs.
Replaced rear discs and pads, as pads had dropped and worn a groove into the disc carriers.
Jobs needing to be done:
Fix/replace possible knackered transfer box :(
Fix the 'floppy knob syndrome' with new springs in door catches.
Fix the alarm/immobiliser.
Fix the peeling dash.
Secure all the trim in the rear.
Replace various rusty/crumbly bits.
Get up the courage to lift the carpet in the rear to look at the floor panel.
Fix the non-working main beam on driver's side.
And that's without any digging around looking for jobs, or any customisation.

Hmm
Weld every single damn panel :) Boot, Boot Sides, body mounts at rear, front footwells, A-Frame to sills, inner wings, inner wing stregthening member.
New wiring harness to go in (I've actually made it now) for Headlamps, Battery and Auxiliaries.
Subs to Go in and change door cards at the back
Spring in tailgate
C/L motor gone in passenger door
Mount CD changer rather than carpet taping it to the boot floor.
Strip, repair and Powedercoat spare bumper
Lift carpets and find holes
I'm sure theres more. But at the same time the other three need attention :(

i`m currently planning 1 10" in the rear, keep looking at the door, but darent, as i`d shut it on some firewood...
the ex-boot seats look to be favourite.. got some MDF, just need some light, fair weather and time to co-incide.
ideas welcomed tho!
add to list:
Naff speakers - replace fronts with componants, rear pillars with 6x9`s (subject to not finding any 6" componants without the tweeters) and a 10"er throbbing somewhere in the boot..
also stocking up on sticky tar type flashband, as this is a cheaper, and more readily available than the dynamat stuff (believed to be made from hens teeth, rocking horse poo and santas beard based on the price!)
dreading the rattles when i put some drum n bass on!! :lol:

at least land rover were consistent.... :lol:
i bought my K plate disco 3 years ago (200 tdi) and almost 40,000 miles later it's hardly missed a beat.
1 rear brake pipe replaced, 1 set of brake pads all round, 1 small piece of welding for the it's last MOT and a few oil and filter changes and some grease.
but.....the next mot is due in 4 weeks, so i thought i'd better get around to a few of those jobs that i've been putting off for the last 3 years, like checking the rear floor panel... :cry: and the rear body mounts :cry:
after much deliberation, i've decided to go down the well trodden path that every disco owner is destined to walk.....as soon as machine mart re-open 2moz the 28th december i will be purchasing a mig and ordering my panels from paddocks.
as paddocks don't actually open for buisness until 2nd of january, that gives me about a week to learn to weld. :roll:
i've decide to replace the rear right hand side and left hand side floor panels too, rather than patch up and try to rebuild the seating lip which the main panel sits on. (which has partly dissapeared). it seems as though i will probably need more tools (which i don't have) to form the joggle on the patch panels, hence replacing the whole panel which is correctly formed and should just slot straight in to place( i hope).
i've read quite a few posts on various forums about replacing the floor, but hav'nt heard of anyone that replaced the side pieces too. if anyone has got any tips or suggestions or reasosns why it might be better to patch the sides and replace just the main floor, they would be greatly appreciated..nick.

Master and slave brake cylinder
Excessive amounts of welding most rust has gone apart froma few holes that need to be patched up around the front headlights
new viscous and water pump
new belts all round
new starter and altenator
2 new batteries
2 rear trainling arms as the 200tdis are as robust as a chocolate teapot
sealed both alpine windows due to leaking of an excessive amount
removed most of the interior
replaced seats with reclining bucket seats as they had all collapsed
new discs and pads all round
new brake lines due to corrosion
new headlight bulbs many times
new windscreen wipers until i stumbled across some incredible ones on ebay that have felt like new for 5 months
front indicators due to smashing them regularly
and the list is endless on the other end of things to do
but u know what I LOVE IT!
