Title: Odd sandwiches
Post by: Ja1983 on November 29, 2007, 23:01:19
SWMBO hates marmite... so out of pure spite i recon on of my favourite sarnies has to be wensleydale cheese, nice ham (not that second hand cheap re-formed stuff!) with a big dollop of marmite... in a big soft floury bun.

also favoured is chicken, bacon, wensleydale and musturd.. on soft ciabatta

mate of mine is found of cheep cheese, peanut butter and tuna, on sliced .... sick individual, although having sampled one by mistake. its not as bad as it sounds!

Bex (SWMBO) has been known to eat bananna and egg sandwiches...

 :?

sure theres more...

Sandwiches are my favourite food whether they be cold or in the form of a toasted one.

I will start with toasted. Cheese, baked bean and sausage. Yes it does all fit and yummy.

Cold sarnies.

Top time fave is lettuce, tesco salad cream (Tescos own is the only one which doesnt flow out the sarnie in me lunch box!) and mild cheddar cheese.

One I had once which was actually very nice. I really wanted one with tomatoes and cucumber and the only rolls left on site was nuttella. So, Nuttella, cucmber and tomatoe.

Also a burger with melted camembert (or how ever you spell it) lettuce in a soft white roll. :D

Lettuce is the top filer for most sarnies.

Just reminded me of a fab baguettee I used to buy in my local bakery.

Chicken, mayo, and sweetcorn. It was half a baguette totaly stuffed full and took 30mins to eat (yes even with my big mouth!! ) and cost about £2.20. Bargain :D

As a collegue and my self call it at work, food porn  :D

I love all Subway sandwiches, but ones I often make myself:

Sliced ham, most expensive lidl cheese, american mustard, branstons pickle, sliced white (Hovis) bread

Bacon(cooked) and ham both chopped and laid on a bed of grated cheese on a slice of white hovis bread, grate mosre cheese over bacon and ham, add lee and perins sauce, add a large chopped tomato slice, then put top slice on and more greated cheese then cook for 2 mins in grill

mini baguettes, heated in oven, cut in half, then stabbed with a long round pole (preferably sharp) and hotdogs, added with melting butter, american mustard and tomato ketchup

tuna and cheese go well with a bit of sliced onion and toasted :D

my brother used to eat some very strange things... mainly what ever was in the fridge..

most of the time they went along the lines of ketcup, cream cheese ham and peanut butter! and sometime with added jam

Dad when he was a kid used to eat sugar sarnies...

I was on a course in London a couple of weeks ago and had to resort to a 'Subway' sandwich.
I asked for a plain cheese one, grabbed my food, and had to dash off. I bit into in it to find it contained cheese and a large amount of hot raw chillis! Most unpleasant!

HOW TO ORDER A SUBWAY SANDWICH
(though it's more a baguette, but hay ho)

if you have never been to subway before, you have to say this

"one foot, italian herb, Subway Melt, with extra cheese (20p), toasted, lettuce, onions, green peppers, cucumbre, tomato, sweet onion and huney mustard sauces, and a meal deal please, yes, I'll have the large double chocolate chip cookie and an empty cup"

take said empty cup to drink dispencer, and fill with crushed ice and sprite, then sit in store (as you get 1 free fill up on a meal deal drink)

and thats how you order first sub. This varies on the time and number of people behind the counter, sometimes you'll speak to only one person, sometimes three or four, you need to speak clearly to these people, as their a bit simple, but as long as you listen and are VERY SPECIFIC, you will survive this ordeal, and get one hell of a sandwich orgasm, which could only get better if they dropped the price....

Doesn't say anything about "By the way sir, would you like your sarnie boobytrapped with chillis?"

because I waas speciffic and didn't ask for them. Just be sure to watch what these simple people do, they try to give you the wrong one and or steal / add items at will, you must treat them like vely naughty children (but dont jump the counter and put one on your knee)

I think I'd have more time for Subway if they realised that cheese does come in several varieties and colours...

A decent mature cheddar. Is it too much to ask?

It's a cross between Malt Loaf and Ginger cake... And for the weegies out there... like a Clootie dumpling with only a small number of currants/raisins.

Can be had from most ethnic grocers in the midlands...
