Title: My Vitara story and some help required!
Post by: MrShogun on November 30, 2007, 19:02:19
Well then, bought the vitara about 3 weeks ago i think, first thing i did was put my CB etc on it:

Then i went about the suspension lift, got the spacer kit off ebay, bought the rims off ebay for 40 quid and the tyres for 225 fitted! They are 31/10.50/15 Insa Turbo Saharas.

The front and rear passenger side went fine, as did the drivers side rear however the front driver side has been a right pain, i compressed the spring as the driveshaft doesnt unbolt from the hub as easily as the passsenger side, slide it in and started to the compressors, one of the jobbies fell off alowing the spring to go to full length, the force of which bloody ripped the driveshaft from the hub:

Would the CV Joint have gone or something?

Any help?

Other than that it looks pretty cool i think, bit of trimming and bashing, jobs a good un!

Cant see the pic.

I've not taken a zook driveshaft apart but it may be just a matter of reassembling it and fitting a new boot.

its only a curclip that holds the driveshaft into the hub might just be a matter of fishing that out and pushing back together

ive pulled 2 sets of circlips through my hubs and ive not managed to get them to lock 100% afterwards for the sake of a couple of pence
also check for scoring in your hub splines its un-likely but has been done

Hummm looking at that pic all i can see is its ripped the circlip out the front off the spline ...somthing i will have to do shortly as ive managed to whip lash  my front diff at the weekend on a harsh landing and smashed it to bits ...Doohh back to me shed I thinks

managed to sort it out this afternoon, just about got it in, bit of a bash with a big hammer sorts everything!

Knocked the arches about a bit but still not quite enough space yet, but took her on her first off road foray and was very pleased, however where i unbolted the calipers as two of the bolts required grinding due to rust my brakes are very very poor!

Do the calipers adjust or would the system just need bleeding?

Will get some daylight pictures up asap!

Cheers
