Tweak the fuel pump & boost...F.O.C

Don’t just jump in with both feet and tweak your pump – make sure everything is set/working correctly first!!!

Check timing (cam and fuel injection pump - FIP) is set correctly .  You can even slightly advance the FIP if you want.

Check that the lift pump is working correctly

Check the throttle cable is adjusted correctly

Fit a new fuel filter and make sure the air filter is clean (fitting an ITG or similar helps)

Check valve clearances

Check the boost pressure is set to at least 1 bar

Remove the EGR if fitted

Fit a none CAT down pipe (if yours has a CAT) – and then look at the rest of the exhaust system – there are better options available by mixing and matching standard exhausts fitted to 300Tdi’s.

Get your injectors flow/leak checked (can make quite a difference!!)

Then…..

Tweak the injector pump (and make sure it is working correctly to!!!) – And consider raising the boost pressure slightly (17 or 18psi is the limit for the turbo, before it becomes very inefficient)

If you want more then fit a big intercooler….

And then if you want more still - I can have the FIP rebuilt with bigger internals…then you’d be looking at hybrid turbos!!
