Hey folks,
Still getting to grips with the Vitara and it's funny little ways, one thing still puzzles me, When i start up the engine from cold (FYI it's a 8v carb) the engine seems to idle a bit on the high side i.e 2000rpm and after it warms up it drops back to normal say 1000-900rpm during this period it's acceleration off the mark is some what lumpy and unwilling. I know running 31's doesn't help matters with the va va voom dept. But is this the norm or does it require attention? or is there some way of overcoming this?
I accept this probably falls into the "another daft question" section, so i'll say sorry guys & gals now, saves time later.
Cheers Phil

hi phil as a stop gap
if you open ur bonnet stand drivers side to the right of ur carb there shud be a green plug ?
un-plug it it will help a bit with your revs also if not already done give the engine cooling system a good flushing and put some new anti freeze in long shot but you never no

i had a similar problem with an 1.6 8v vitara . the PCV valve on the inlet manifold was the problem . it caused an air leak so the car would hesitate when you put your foot down then it would pick up again. there around 30 quid from the main stealers.
