this wednesday... apparently.
just had an e mail from petrolprices.com saying:
"Dear Robert,
Last week I was informed that a group called Transaction 2007 had plans this weekend to release a statement announcing some kind of protest action relating to the price of fuel in the UK. I have just read a statement published on their web site in which they have confirmed that they are going to organise legal protest action, and that it could begin as early as this Wednesday."
personally, im a bit naffed off about this, cos i know the disruption it can cause, and i really dont think it will do any good at all. :evil:

The following statement is released on 9th December 2007 at 17:20Hrs
"TransAction 2007" makes you aware, that a nationwide legal protest against high fuel taxation will take place at various locations. These will be made available as will the date and time during the coming days. Protest action will take place on the same date and at the same time.
Person(s) participating in the demonstration do so on their own inititive. You will be advised of a "meeting area". If you have not already registered on the "TransAction 2007" forum section of the website, now is the time to support this LEGAL demonstration.
"TransAction 2007" would emphasis, you should comply with police instructions. Any person seen acting outside of police instruction will be reported and asked to be removed from the protest area. Further information will be released here as we receive it.
Your attention should be focused on Wednesday 12th December 2007. "TransAction 2007" would like to thank everyone for their support in this campaign. We act as individuals but stand as one.
In finishing, "TransAction 2007" respectfully request that both HM Treasury and the Directors of the Road Haulage Association, urgently meet and enter into sincere and constructive dialogue to achieve an amicable solution to resolve this long standing issue over fuel duty that would be acceptable to all parties concerned. Negotiation should be the way forward !

Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.
A date of Saturday 15th December 2007 at 10:00am has been decided for protest action. This date was decided by members as the best possible to enable those who would normally be working during the week to attend. This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the allotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting.

The whole issue nees bringing into the public conciousness. Something has to start it.
The protest alone might not acheive much, but give the media an excuse to show mr Joe public just how much tax goes onto the price of fuel and it becomes a political issue. Job done. Gov'ts have been outed for less and right now with the price of borrowing going up, house prices up and a recession on the way Gordon Brown doesn't need to make any more enemies.
There are lots of businesses on the brink of folding too with the rise in the cost of transport.

The Government has too many extra issues on the go at the moment. They will not relent on this one, if they do .. floodgates will open.

I've had just about enough of this so I'm going to say no more after this.
Yes, we live in a democracy, great, wonderful. That means I'm free to prtests about things I dont like as much as you. If I hear one more moan about these protests being undemocratic I swear I'll scream. :evil:
No, the protests may not acheive a lot, and thats not really the point. The point is a warning shot that there are things that people will make the public rally and that we arent going to be put up with being sheep forever.
As for the Law, theres a loophole, I'm not sure what it is but its to do with numbers and was built into the law as passed, I'll have to have a read but I fully intend being out and about Saturady morning. If anyone wants to join me at Fawley or Hamble point let me know before hand.

waste of time ( and their fuel), i cannot believe last week the lpg here went from 43.9 to 47.9 in a day, then wednesday night went to spain, came back last night and its jumped up to 54.9, whats going on!, thats 11p per litre, a quater of the origional price.
if i thought a protest would change anything, or make anyone listen i would perhaps get involved, but we are not going to change a thing, and in this country there are more important issues than fuel prices that need sorting first.
