Title: Diesel compression testing.
Post by: Sider on December 15, 2007, 10:21:51
We are looking at having the cylinders checked (burning some oil) before we strip the engine. If we have serious loss of compression on all 4 cylinders, the engine goes, if it is minor, or if it's localized, engine strip ahoy.

Now, do you know of any place locallish to us, how much they would charge and the like??

Or even better, would anyone have a kit he/she doesn't mind our borrowing?? (beer tokens would of course be donated).

Ta.

Most general garages will have the kit to do it. Mine was done a couple of months ago and it wasn't expensive. It only took about 1/2 hour.

Brilliant, thanks.

I shall have to start ringing around a bit. Anybody can recommend an honest specialist in the Luton/Beds area??

Appreciate the offer, Edy, we have 2 petrol kits, but I doubt they'd last long on a diesel. :D

Look in the yellow pages for a Diesel specialist, they should have the gear and the advice to go with it.
