As I understand it, there is a distant possibility of an "ignore" function being added to MC software so that we can decide to ignore members comments if we choose to.
I was just wondering how other members felt about this?

It's just like a killfile on usenet I guess. It might stop people getting antagonistic about other users and let us get on with being fun, friendly and free :)
The way I see it, if you dislike someone at your regular pub (for example) you will simply ignore them. Same rules here I guess - better than changing pubs :)

i do really worry sometimes. i dont think we need to act like kids do we.
lets all grow up a bit, life too short.

If it avoids flame wars then I'm all for it. It's not as if you'd have to use it if you didn't want to (I probably won't).

We aren’t actually adding an ignore function, What we are doing is moving over to a new forum software, I understand that the new software has this function available, In fact it has whole host of extra functions..
From what I’ve seen it has more features and greater flexibility.

Is it so they cant PM you, or you just dont see their posts in threads.
Jeez guys, you ever heard the phrase 'variety is the spice of life'?
You need the bad and the good, to make balanced judgements etc. If someone posts garbage all day long, then one day you may succeed in educating them, and in the meantime they will leave you feeling mentally and morally superior..........
Sounds a bit like my gran grumbling theres nowt on telly, then sitting watching it all day......just turn it off.
hey, why not make it possible to set up M/C so you can only read your own posts, then life will be perfect eh.....
-
please dont make me read my own posts
im all for veriety myself ....the good and the bad.....
even the bad topics get read alot
-
you can chose not to read threads too
clever that innit :)

you can chose not to read threads too
my thoughts exactly

I'm assuming it's a function that will only affect the person who uses it? In which case, it might as well be available if the new software allows it. If you choose not to use it, so be it. I haven't read anything that suggests it is being imposed on anyone. So I don't see what the fuss is about.

If I chose to Ignore V8moneypit (safest example to use  ) when i read a thread and he'd posted, instead of his post I'd see a line thats clickable that says that he posted.... If I clicked it I could read his posts too or choose to ignore them.
I have that feature on another site..... personally I don't use it and prefer to tell a tit that he/she is a tit! :D

LOL @ fudge

Thank you :P  That puts you in the same club as my wife... she ignores me too!

Conversations might get a bit surreal if you could only see half of the discussion.

You've never spoken to my mother clearly :-o
As I say, the feature is an additional thing you can chose to do if you like, I don't know how well it works, or indeed quite what it does to be brutally honest ...
It'll be in the new software unless I can work out how to turn it off of course :)

This is making my brain hurt! :(
