I'm looking for advice from anybody who has experience of wheel arch trimming on a 4 door. I don't mean camel cut but full wheel arch trim including cutting the rear doors. I also would like your advice on wheel arch flares including the material / type and suppliers.
Many thanks

Andy, check out the roccia website... last time I looked they had an excellent guide for cutting 4 door to fit their arches.
in fact... !here... (http://www.roccia.co.uk/media/Range%20rover%20classic%20disco%201%20roccia%20flare%20fitting%20instructions.pdf)I'll do the dnkey work for you!!

Doing the 4 door trim is a slow and painful job. Do not buy fibreglass arches, they crack at the slightest impact.
I've got them on the Disco that I'm breaking, I may try to take them off .....

Got a tip about using trimed down defender rear flexi arches all round, using a 90/110 tub for reference.
Cut a template 25mm smaller than the tub arch and trim the Disco arch to suit. Pie cut the 25mm back into the wheel well and fit the defender flexi to the lip you have created.
Just bought a set of defender flexi's for fitting in the new year, so can tell you if it works. :!:

Andy, you know I have a 9 inch angle grinder, air saw, jig saw, VERY big hammer & bolster chiesle ready & waiting

You could always look at BB.
I would get the fibreglass ones...., they look better and only break when you hit something.........
I'd try e-blag, Scorpion or Devon 4x4....

As soon as I've ordered the wheel arch flares (looks like the flexible plastic type are my best bet) I'm going to give it a go. Any help would be much appreciated; I think that Paul (mudknite) also needs to do the same job on his.

Jake trimmed his ones on Blue when it was around. He did a nice looking job but didnt fit wheel arch flares if I remember rightly.

i got the flexi arches on mine (not the defender ones) cutting the arches i found it easier to use a jigsaw as an angle grinder melts alloy!.
the hardest part is closing the gap on the rear doors.

sorry i haven't got any of the doors.

i cut mine out with angle grinder and an air hacksaw for the awkward bits also had to trim rock sliders. i carefully filled gap in doors with expanding foam. which i had my doubts about but has worked really well. haven't bothered with wheel arch flares but probably go for the flexible ones.

i dont think id ever buy flares i rekon this way is much better way on rangie and discos and alot cheaper
-
that looks as bad as fitting defender arches to a disco
just NO

Hi
Well I did this myself on mine and I am not far from you if you want help/advice. Some of the Brum guys saw my Disco when we went out laning with Chris the other day.
Personally I followed the guide that somebody put up on rangie.com. You are doing basically the same thing.
I cut mine with an angle grinder (I hate using these things but its the only thing that works well). Left about a cm or so from the body line I then folded this inwards using mole grips and a hammer :-) What I tired to do was follow the body line so it looked OK.
On the rear door I just forced the inner skin in and then folded the outer skin over it.
I've not bothered with wheel arch flares as my tires are tall and thin (They are more or less the equivalent of the old 750R16).
Cheers
John
