Title: jimny transfer brackets alloy or cast??
Post by: jamesey on December 20, 2007, 20:24:26
hi again ive been on the phone to kap suzuki today and i got chatting to a guy that recommends some cast steel transfer mountings as the alloy ones tend to snap a lot
are these the bridge shaped one and the little straight one that hold the transfer box in place with the rubber bits bolted on to them
well im an engineer so on night tomorow i thought id make some , ive took the drivers side bridge shaped one off and i think it is already steel
my car was a standard jimny 2000 w reg  would this have had a uprated steel bracket on it :?:
correct me if im wrong but alloy isnt magnetic and these brackets ive got on are.

As far as I know std ones are all alloy. I snapped two, both after getting a little air bourne, the brakets can't take the weight of the transfer box on impact. Tends only to be the drivers side that snaps. I managed to make a steel one and I'm not an engineer, so you shouldn't have any probs.

No, as long as you get every thing else in the right place it can be straight. I think the KAP ones are flat.
