Title: Distributor wanted.
Post by: BigSi on December 21, 2007, 18:01:12
Does anybody know where I can get hold of a new 3.5 V8 efi distributor(35DM8), to work with a remote ignition module. It needs to be the type with the two leads and plug leading from the main body ?

Most of the shops say that the new style with the ignition module mounted on the body (35DLM8) should fit, but the power steering bracket is in the way, so It will not re-mount.

Have a new one to swap if it’s any help?

I used one with the module on it and I had the power steering pump on the LH side of the engine. It's tight, but if you are careful with locating the drive shaft, you can get it to work. Well, at least, I did. Having said that, it was a pig to get at the nut to tighten it after setting the timing  :?

Hi simon, Is it the vacum advance unit hitting the power steering bracket. The reason I ask is that as my timing chain is stretching, I keep having to advance the dizzy, it's now so far round that the vacum unit is touching the bracket.

Is it possible that your encountering a more extreme version of what I have #-o

BTW I really really really miss my jeep right now! :(  :(

Yeh, this is one of those times! Its the black ignition module, that's hitting the power steering bracket. The garage said that it just wouldn't fit without changing the pump brackets to the other side.

The easiest option is to replace like-for-like, if I can find one?

Had a look on Reel Steel, could be the top left of the picture of four?

Also found this site, anybody used them? It a US site, but parts are distributed from the UK (Part No: 35DM8 42600A).

$131.90, that’s about £65.31. Cheap considering I paid £126 for mine, I guess there is tax on top too?

Has anybody hear of Aldon units?
