When mounting a roof lightbar where is the best place to mount it (yes I know on the roof is the first thing your all thinking) to minimise the glow on the bonnet/dash further forward or further back.
the flood light effect on mine is now getting on my nerves I am going to paint the bonnet black but if think moving the lights back onto the roof a bit might help aswell.
Opinions please :D

Depending on the bar, you might not be able to move it back. Mine is at the front of the gutters and has just enough clearance for the lights where it is. Still get reflections and I've angled them up a fair bit - any further and they'd be sending signals to UFOs.

Bars homemade so I can put it anywhere :D

This is easy....
get a 101!

Maybe you have the wrong pattern on your lights for their position ?

I mounted mine further back so it threw a shadow on the bonnet. To avoid posting it again, there is a picture in this thread:

I had the same problem, now ive got a roofrack, im going to mount them about a foot rear of the front edge, so the shadow is cast over the bonnet, plus im going to get a black bonnet chequer plate.

got mine from greenlane 4x4 great bar cheap spots ring i think . they were unusable, made like little brows that fit under the spots, now puts a shadow half way down the bonnet which is well usable. alan....

When I get round to it, I thought about making a shroud for the bottom of the lamp to stop the bonnet lighting up. It won't be anytime soon though as my light bar ended up on Tim's Disco.
