been talked about loads in the past, all depends on what sort of off roading your doing and what sort of driving style you use. i prefer manual but autos are very good in alot of situations... difficult one.....

I have a 3.9 auto, and low speed control is superb, would be reluctant to revert to manual. All down to personal choice!

got 3 auto v8 rangies and a manual v8 110....prefer an auto any day

i prefer a manual myself, due to more positive engine braking, i personally prefer it. i do enjoy a auto in heavy traffic thou....

I used to hate autos, I had one in a Capri and it was awful.

But in a Range Rover, well I'm a convert.  So much so that I'm planning to fit Auto into Blue (not getting on with it though).
