Post by: Oli-L on January 03, 2008, 11:59:35
Finally got round to swapping my engine over around at chrismas, but shes decided to play the

'i dont wont to start and you cant make me' card!

Ive got fuel pumping upto the injectors (after finding out the in tank fuel pump had broke in half!) and a decent spark but it just cranks over and doesnt want to know,
I lost my rag and threw easy start down its neck it does want to go with that!
(Whilst trying to take my finger and my mate beard in the prosses  :D!)
But im stumpted now as the world of rangies is a bit of a new learning curve for me know and dont know wot to try next.

And help would me much appicated..

Thank you!

Oli

i did this recently also, only think you can check are the basics. everything conected up right? have you played with the timing? what state are the plugs in after trying? is there fuel in there? (wet plugs)? ecu connected correctly? coil the correct one? air flow meter connected correctly? take some pics around engine bay some egal eye'd person here might see something wrong....

dont know how you did the swap, but when i had this problem my dizzy was out by 180 degree's ! Wouldnt explain the starting with easy start tho so not much help really, sorry  Sounds like timing of somesort to me tho thinking about it  :-k it would try to start on easy start cos it goes in all cylinders at once. The petrol on the other hand would only be going in when injected but at the wrong time, I wonder  :?

best thing to do is do the static timing and then see how if fires
hope this helps

Yes if you make the tiing a bit retarded it should start up more easily.  Also you can check the pressure in the fuel rail on some EFi cars with the valve on the rail between no 2 and no 4 injectors.

After that another course open to yo uis buy the Haynes manual and run through the diagnostic chart in the back for the EFi system, see if all the sensors are doing what they should.

Cheers for the all the advice guys,

I owe u all a beer!

(or in the case of range rover blues a return favor on the old hot choclate front!)

i had a bit of a tinker with her the weekend, not a lot of joy just a lot of swearing!

I swapped the coil over 'cause it was brand new, ecu connection is all good, checked all connections seem fine, I'm just waiting for a mate of mine to drop down a air flow meter because I'm not keen of the state mine is in.

Am i right in thinking if that's playing up its gonna tell the ecu some crazy stuff? Because the multimeter was coming up with some strange numbers!!

Ive said before and I'll say it again, I ******* HATE ELECTRIONCS!!    :'( :) :D
