Title: chassis swop 89TD - 300TDI
Post by: Eck-T on January 03, 2008, 15:20:50
Anyone had experience of putting a pre 300 TDI chassis in a 300 TDI vehicle, or 300 TDI engine in older chassis, is there any big problems with engine / gearbox mounts etc
cheers

Ive now bought a pre 300TDI chassis (1989) for my 1996 110 300TDI so looks like it will have to fit! or be made to!!
what is the best paint sceme to protect it from rust, waxoil? Hammerite ? cold galv spray???

you will have to cut off the old engine mounts then re weld onto new chassis
all other parts will be a direct swap

Get it galvanised. gonna be a good £70 at least to have it blasted. wont take long to patch up any holes, then galvanised for usually around £100.
