Title: Transfer Box
Post by: jonny_hains on January 03, 2008, 19:59:08
hi, i've got a 110 3.5 which as you can guess is not great on fuel. My machanic has offered me a new disco high ratio transfer box for £350 +£100 fitting.
Just wondering whether or not this is worth it and how much better my fuel economy might be and how long it might take to get a return on my spending.
As i am not the most machnical minded person on the planet, any thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated.

Cheers

HOW MUCH

I just sold a Disco gearbox complete with transfer box from my Disco as I run 33's & had to go the other way (defender box)

Think £350 is way to high £100 fitting is ok though

Na, the hi ratio is different, 1.4 as against 1.6 rings bells.

disco is 1.2
i would have thought with it being a v8 the ratio currently fitted will be 1.410 not 1.666 as normal

£350 isnt dear if its a new recon box, but if its just a second hand box then way to much. £100 fitting is cheap though
